umm yeah i'm gonna fail my GCSE french aren't i? lol! edit-i've just remembered some. in english but meh. to be born to become to go to fall (i think) to die to go up (?) to go down(?) to stay(?) to return (?) we were told this story about a man who was born, became a man went to his friend's house, stayed there, returned, went upstairs, went downstairs, fell and died. but i've forgotton most of the middle.

that's naitre, devenir, aller, tomber, mourir, ascendre, descendre, rester and revenir. Venir (to come) is another.

do you not have sein/haben perfect tense verbs? for example, ich habe fuBball speilen (the B is that funny 'ss' thing...)

ich habe fussball gespielt.
you use habe with everything which isn't a verb of motion. that's what we've been told anyway but we're all stupid in my german class.

see, my german sucks. that's the same in french - if you're moving (or specifically not moving, or being born or dying ) then it's an etre; otherwise it's an avoir.

there's only 14 etre verbs, so yes it's better to guess avoir.

yeah there are sein/haben...but i find them pretty easy to remember.
in the perfect tense there is sein/haben
then in pluperfect there is war/hatte
