it sounds like the sort of story that would mentally scar people so it's probably better if you don't!

Slap bass, slap the drummer! makes an interesting sound too! Love Jaco Pastorius on the slapping front. Popularly Mark Knofpler (spelling?) too. Mark Knopfler - slap bass, are you sure jazzking? When I saw Mr Knopfler play (Brighton Centre 1984-ish) it was lead guitar, and no sign of any slapping! Are you thinking of Mark King (Level 42) - AKA "Thunder Thumb" because of his enthusiastic bass-slapping? Jaco Pastorius - are we back to Weather Report again?

Oh Blimey! I told you I was tired and I had several trains ( of thought) going through my mind! How stupid can one person be! Well here I stand... perhaps I should lay down now, eh?

What? You're reciting all these names! Us young'uns need an expaination... Mark Knopfler is one of the British Pop/Rock guitar gods, most famous with his band Dire Straits. Almost everyone aged 30-something has Brothers In Arms in their CD collection (it came out about the time CDs started to take over from vinyl LPs) so you should be able to borrow it from an elderly relative Mark King played bass guitar with pop/funk band Level 42 in the mid 1980's. He was perhaps one of the most famous bass players at that time. Most bass players seem to be shy retiring types and most people seem to be able to name all the members of a band - except the bass player! Mark King was the exception to this rule, being bassist, singer and general front man for the band. As for Jaco Pastorius and Weather Report, see the "jazzking says" thread elsewhere... Personally, I always liked Pino Palladino's fretless bass playing, with many different artists in the 80's, especially Paul Young. Oops, this knowledge of 80's music will surely give my age away! Well, you did ask for some explanation...

Thanks for that! So, after all this, what do we think a piano is: percussion, string or keyboard? I for one have changed my ideas to all of them - or we could give it its own category on its own...

Perhaps an old landrover eh? In my opinion you can't beat a Jeep Cheroke in British Racing Green...

A 4 litre straight 6 is the equivalent of having the L.S.O parked outside your house and costs as much to run too!
