Howdy all,
basically, the reason i've asked you all if you're still here is because... we're moving!
basically, proboards, however good it has been to us ( ) is no longer any good. the website has gone down as i've moved providers, to one that provides php support. i've already set up a new forum at forum.practicalmusicproject.com with all the boards etc already there.
the reasons to move? one, the forum is within the domain, so it's clear that it's a part of the project. two, i get more control on how things happen. three, phpBB is easily expandable, easy to update etc. four, you can add lots of cool stuff to phpBB if you want. five, it rocks. six, it's quicker. need any more?
the big drawback to the plan? because of the way proboards is set up (plus some resistance on their part) there is no way to transfer the posts from this board to the new board. This is a pain, I know, but your member post counts will be maintained. And you can start up any particularly hot topics again, and i'm sure they'll be just as successful there.
basically, you'll all need to sign up again, preferably with a similar username to the one you have now. once you have signed up, PM me and i'll add your post count to your profile, so you can still get credit for your activity here.
I guess another important announcement whilst I'm here is a swaparound in staff members. as you've no doubt spotted nickiflute and musicbabe aren't coming back - so they can consider themselves demoted. tremolo, you're doing a superb job and obviously you're still gonna be staff. but obviously tremolo can't run the show by himself. one member in particular has struck me as a candidate, and as of when she signs up on the new board ruth will be our newest member of staff! i think we can all agree that ruth has contributed a significant amount here, and kept things going during the tough times. congratulations!
so... yeah. go sign up! i'll keep this board alive until sometime during the summer, once i start work on the main site. i'll send out a few messages so people know where to find us from now on (if any of them decide to come back that is).
so, as current members, i'm hoping you'll be OK with this move, and start to bring the new board to life!
the admin team... well, me!
