I got my grade 1 flute music this week But I don't know when my exam is yet There are two of us from my school doing it. We are both only 8. Any tips?

don't panic. and definatley practice your scales - grade one flute scales are F & G majors and E minor according to the AB guide, but if you're doing trinity...probably the same. always go for harmonic minor, easier to remember and play. and remember the examiner always wants to give marks to you, so don't worry about them.

In the sight reading, don't stop and go back, try and keep a steady pulse, and do some dynamics if they are written. Also don't panic!!

Hope you enjoy the exam. Please don't feel scared, the examiner WANTS you to pass! Believe it or not. If you are 8 years old then all credit to you for chosing to play the flute. The amswer to your question is ...practice, practice, practice...get the idea. Breathing. Tounging. Dynamics. I'm sure you will be perfect, a little nerves is normal, but your examiner will, as I said want you to pass. Believe me.
