i can remember most of the studies I played during my first 3-4 months of playing (ie about a year ago) but i find it hard to believe I'd remember them when I'm 23!

Yes, sort of. Exam pieces are always easy to remember for some people even after a matter of years because you spend months preparing it and practising it! I can sort of play my grade 3 pieces (three years ago) from memory still.

I can play parts of my grade 3 pieces (took grade 3- 4 years ago). But I can remember my grade 5 flute pieces which I played for my grade 5 which was november 2005.

As I predicted, I can only remember my exam pieces and only a few others from memory.

I remember exam pieces because I work on them for so long that it is commited to my long term memory.

I'd love to repond positively, but although I remember a lot, I find at my age (OLD) I've forgotten more than I remember, but I can't remember if I've forgotten it until someone reminds me of it, then, often remember, I think I should stop now because I'm forgetting what the point was?!

The admin guy knows my details, but believe me I'm 'old' or at least feel it amongst you lot! That's why you may now refer to me as the grumpy old git, jazzking.
