I am going to be learning it. I don't know whether I will want to do it for Grade 8, it is a very popular piece.

Hi! Yep, the first movement of the Poulenc is nice, but I agree, it is played a lot. I plyed the 3rd movement of Mozart's concerto in G major. That was Ok, and not too tricky. Have you played the York Bowen piece? Thats lovely, its not very difficult technically (although you need a nice tone in the upper register), its all about expression. I liked that one. & I hear Martinu is on the list, thats very fun to play, just a few tricky runs to master in the middle. Ummm, I like the Taktakishvili piece too, but I don't think it's the nice movement on the list, and theres some rather scary high notes towards the end of that mvt, so perhaps best avoided. For my list C I played a Boehm study, I don't know if thats still on the list, but if it is its harder than it looks don't be fooled lol I ended up spending all my time learning that one, was sick of it by the end of my exam. Good luck with it (wanders of to play the NICE mvt of the Taktakishvili now you've reminded me it exists lol I loooooove that piece! ) Good luck!

C, 3 octaves above middle C high! Which would be OK if you had a run up, but oh no, just straight in on C, and its marked pianissimo yeah, cos thats going to happen! In my edition its got 8ve lower ad lib, but I don't know if thats been put in by the composer or the editor, and I doubt you could get away with that in an exam. Maybe if you were just playing it for fun you could play the lower notes.

...ouch. that's not good. that's very not good... mind you the last study in my etude book (weissenborn 2) has a top E at the end (the E top space of treble clef) which isn't the nicest note on a bassoon...

oooohhh, thats nasty! soo cruel! Our coach for wind rep last week said that the oboe part from the symphony we were playing was especially hard because the first oboist had just had an affair with the composer's wife! lmao! It was revenge! Maybe your study dude had just been dumped by a bassoon friend hehe! Musicians eh! What are they like! ;D
