The boggest problem with an acoustic piano is that it takes up SSSOOOOO much space! If you were to get a properly good keyboard with weighted keys, the full range of a regular piano and all the other authenticating stuff I'd say it would be better.

I have an electric piano, and it's ok, except that you have to practise dynamics and pedalling on a proper piano coz it's so different!
Sometimes the pedals switch, so that it sustains with the left and softens with the right!

OK, here's a new idea: how well can:
a) a pianist change over to keyboard and b) a keyboard...ist change over to piano?
And which way is easier?

Pianists rule.End of story. Elec keyboard players, I think the best must have an all round knowledge of all including Piano. Jazzking.

A lot of keyboards only have a range of 4 octaves (two octaves below and above middle C)!

I have an electric keyboard and an electric piano, and sometimes the keyboard comes in handy, coz it's portable, you can plug it into your computer, and you can record things into a keyboard and get them transfered straight into midi form.
My keyboards very intelligent, if I tell it to, it'll pedal for me, harmonise a single melodic line, and play a chord sequence over an over again as part of a riff!
I really only use it for sibelius though, and for practising something when there's people in the kitchen playing on the computer, or using the washing machine!
It is easier transferring your skills from piano to keyboard, but I started teaching myself keyboard, way before lerning piano, and when I'm sight reading, most of the time I find it easier to get my left hand to get straight into a position, if I notice what chord it is and what inv.
But that doesn't really count!

Just wondering what the general consensus was...and if anyone votes option 7 there are going to be beatings of a lifetime ... but then again option 3 and 7 are more or less similar...
