Got a question on composition that I don't know the answer to. As far as ending a piece, lets agree that most satisfying is the perfect cadence. Who knows, 'cos I don't, which composition has the longest progression of perfect cadences, or repeated tonic chords? Take a common one, like the 1812, too many? Big unison tonic ending, sure that one was for a reason, but know of any which use this gratuitously? Love everyone!

no idea. i obviously haven't listened to all of the orchestral repetoire but brahms 1st symphony has 3 block tonic chords, 2 bar twiddly bit and then 5 more to end - not the most but still quite excessive nonetheless.
