tis indeedy! i'm not entirely sure what the money is actually spent on...i mean, it's an examiner sitting in a room saying 'hmm' alot in between you playing. mind you, they're not gonna change it because they must be rich!

I think it is a stupid price to play for someone to examine how you play. Everyone takes them because they need the grades to get into orchestras and unis. HOw do they manage to charge that much of a room and a 2 bits of paper, a pen and someone t wuse the pen and paper??

that's what my parents said when they paid over a £100 for my session of exams once I've just realised! I'm doing grade 7 violin this time too! I'm going to have to break that to my Mum at some point! My Dad doesn't mind about the prices of exams because he understands that they're important. My mum on the other hand...

i'd say they're rich, but they get these massive amounts of money all at once. there are 3 practical exam and 3 theory exam slots during the year - so though they're expensive they need to be to keep the associated board in the black. not that i'm defending them...

possiblement. but even charities need money to live, especially if they're as big and as important as the AB.

But, they do have their own publishing company

Woah. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that. Tis ridiculous amount of money to be traumatised!

I think it is indeed expensive. Maybe ABRSM finds it's more profitable for them. The really bad thing is that the price increases every year!

The exam pieces are fairly pricey too. Especially if you need to get extra music if you want to do an extra listed piece (e.g C5, B4)
