My mate failed his grade 6 piano at xmas with 94 or summet, then re-took it this time round and failed again with 96! It would depend what exam it was. If it would be an important one, like 5 or 7 or 8, i might re-take but i might just shrug and carry on if it was 6.

He says the examiners are conspiring against him!
I thought I'd done badly in my G7 exam, so I was def gonna resit if I had failed. It's more self achievement and trying to prove to yourself that you can actually do it than anything. That would be the only reason I'd retake.

probably retake unless I'm really sure I'll pass next time at a higher grade. And 99% NOT GIVE UP

It depends how bad the mark was and which grade I was doing.

I might retake but I might work towards the nxt grade.
I know someone who has failed two grades in a row...

If I got 30 or something then I'd give it up, if I got about 80 or so I'd retake, but if I got close then I'd plough on and do the next grade.

Someone who's only been playing for a few weeks doing G5 on a french horn, catching the examiner on a bad day, being punched before the exam AND playing with your hands the wrong way round tied behind your back. Otherwise I don't think anybody would've gotten 30.
