When I was (much) younger I used to play in a marching band. I played what was described as a "valved trombone" - like an overgrown trumpet really with 3 valves instead of a slide. Slightly trombone-shaped with some of the tube going over your shoulder and some of the tubes extending in front of the bell. Shorter than a slide trombone so easier to march with (probably easier to play too). Before that I attempted a single-valve horn of some description, only one rung up the evolutionary ladder from a bugle. I found it nigh-on impossible to play properly and fortunately the band upgraded to 3-valved instruments before I got found out! I can still remember the 3-valve fingering (same as the trumpet IIRC), but I'm not sure I could blow all the notes correctly now (if at all!).

You never know unless you try! Wouldn't fancy that myself though! The trick is to think you could still do it but when you try it then another story...

You'd probably have to make it another shape because you'd probably end up smacking everone round the head with it...

Can I get brownie points for rhyming? <claps>...no brownie points for rhyming but your complementing bassoons so you're in favour with me at least... --- @trem'lo: Brownie points. Basically, for girls (?) when they're still in primary school (I believe) they're's like a campy-clubby-fun type thing that goes on called Brownies...I think it comes from there. However no-one really knows or cares where it comes from - and basically if you've got brownie points you're in favour with someone... That sounded alot simpler in my head...

Basically you gets points for doing "good" things. Then you get bagdes. Is that what you meant. Ps. I'm sorry for my non-rhyme earlier remebering French for a test which I will fail...
